Whitney & Jordan

Hawaiian Wedding Day

Whitney and Jordan said "I do" in the most picturesque location: a plantation on the island of Maui!   It was the perfect way to bring all their friends and family out of the winter cold and into some sunshine on a Saturday in February!  We asked Whitney to share some details from the big day with us and we're so excited to share this beautiful wedding.

How did you and your partner meet?

We met at work at Perlo Construction about 4 years ago, we sat across from each other. Jordan would always flirt with me by asking how to pronounce Hawaiian words (since I was born and raised in Maui, HI). We are both project managers for a general contractor, so planning our wedding was like a project we could both collaborate on!

What was your proposal story?

Myself, Jordan, and his younger brother Jackson were headed to a family Christmas party. Since it was a beautiful December day in Oregon, Jordan suggested that the three of us head to Brooks Winery to do some wine tasting prior to the Christmas party, of course I said "Yes!". It was so nice out, we enjoyed a delicious flight and had great conversation. As we were about to leave, Jordan asked Jackson to get a photo of Jordan and I on the deck overlooking the vineyard. Jackson took the picture, Jordan looked over at me and gave me a big smooch. As I turned and looked at him, he was down on one knee, I remember him saying, "I've thought of a million ways to do this..." and I can't remember the rest (I was in such shock), I fell on my knees. Jordan asked "Will you marry me?", and of course my response was "YES!" I turned and looked at Jackson who was in complete shock as well, bawling his eyes out! We then headed to Jordan's Aunt's house where we celebrated the awesome news with Jordan's family.

Tell us about your gown shopping experience.  Did you know what you wanted or was your dress a surprise?

I know that there are some women who have been dreaming of their perfect dress their entire life, I was not one of them! I had no idea what I wanted, or what I looked good in. I was so blessed to have Jennifer as my consultant, she gave me great advice and helped me pick out some styles that she thought would be great for me. I tried on about 6 dresses, and I knew exactly when I tried on my Justin Alexander dress that it was the one! My mom (Mary Beth), my mother-in-law (Jean), and my God mother (Leona) were all there during the dress shopping experience and when I tried on the Justin Alexander dress they all began to cry and knew it was the one for me as well!

Tell us about your wedding day!  Why did you choose your venue? What was your favorite part?  Any memories that stand out the most?

Jordan and I got married on 2/16/19 at Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, HI. I was born and raised in Maui, so I knew that's where I wanted to get married. We decided to get married in February because we knew that everyone in Washington and Oregon would be ready to get out of the snow, rain and cold around that time...We were so right!

What advice do you have for other brides?

My advice to brides is that as much as you try, there are things that will go wrong. Remember at the end of the day, you are still marrying your best friend and the love of your life! That's what the day is about!
