Kathlene and Chris | Oregon City, OR

HOW DID YOU TWO MEET?

Chris and Kathlene had met 15 years ago through a mutual friend when they were both in high school. Since they didn’t go to the same school, they mainly communicated through instant messenger and phone calls. Shortly after having met each other, they made it official.

Chris asked me to be his girlfriend through a scavenger hunt and we have been together ever since!

HOW DID HE PROPOSE?

The couple picked out Kathlene’s engagement ring together. They had it for a year before they were engaged too. On their 12 year anniversary, they took a road trip to LA. Chris wanted to make their anniversary special so he brought the ring with him. He kept Kathlene on her toes the whole time. On their last night, Kathlene started to pack their items when she noticed she hadn’t seen Chris in a while. He called her out to the backyard. Chris had set up over 100 candles to create the perfect proposal backdrop. Kathlene of course said yes.

“He couldn’t keep this secret and had told me during our trip that it was in his pocket everywhere we went and he was waiting for the right moment (the anticipation was killing me!)”

WHAT WAS IT LIKE FINDING THE ONE AT CHARLOTTE’S?

Kathlene said she was both nervous and excited at the same time when it came time for her to start shopping for her wedding dress. She was a little sad about not having her friends and family able to attend, but was grateful for the wonderful staff at Charlotte’s. Kathlene and her stylist, Brittany, clicked right away and were able to imagine the incredible wedding aesthetic Kathlene was hoping for. When Kathlene first started trying on what she thought she wanted, her and Brittany noticed it didn’t quite feel like her. Brittany suggested trying something out of her original vision. Immediately, Kathlene knew she had found her dress.

“With family and bridesmaites being out of state/far from Portland, I had made the decision to make my wedding dress shopping a solo experience. Even though I would have loved to have my support system by my side I truly gained a hype sister/friend and that was Brittany. Walking into Charlotte’s I immediately felt so much love and support.”

“My dress ended up being a completely different look than I originally envisioned but the minute I put it on it made me feel so beautiful.”

Kathlene said yes to Allure Romance style 3400, a gorgeous A-line that has beautiful, delicate flowers cascading down the tulle skirt.

DID YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOMENT DURING YOUR WEDDING DAY?

Chris and Kathlene got married at Abigail's Garden at the Abernethy Center. They loved how it gave their guests from out of state a chance to experience all the beauty the PNW has to offer. It still allowed them to have a beautiful and intimate wedding surrounded by natural beauty. One of their favorite parts of their wedding was their first look, which they also included their fur baby Royce in.

“Chris took one look at me and was crying which in turn made me cry. It was such a beautiful moment.”

ANY ADVICE FOR OUR BRIDES-TO-BE?

Kathlene had three pieces of advice she wanted to share with future brides. The first was something her best friend told her, which was don’t sweat the small stuff. Kathlene said it helped her be more present during her wedding week. Another tip she had was to have fun! Everyone is there to celebrate you and your partner. She said from the start of your morning to the end of the night to just enjoy everything around you. Her last piece of advice was to have a private last dance for you and your partner.

“It gives you and your partner a special moment to soak in how fun your wedding day has been, how many people love your love and how special your love is for one another.”

Congratulations Kathlene and Chris!
