I have worked at Charlotte’s since June 2016. I love meeting the brides and their families and sharing in the excitement of searching for the perfect gown. Each and every bride I meet is special and different, but they all want to look and feel their best on their special day. I enjoy hearing from my brides the certain looks and hopes for what they want their gown to be, and then being able to bring that to life for them. I love seeing the looks on their faces when they finally find “the one”.
Do you have a favorite moment/story from working at Charlotte’s?
My favorite moment was with a bride I had recently who had come with her mother to try-on gowns with me. She wanted a gown that she could feel like royalty in that had lots of sparkle and plenty of personality. However, she was disheartened because she had been to several stores previously that had a limited selection of samples to try-on in her size as well as the look she wanted. I was determined to have her leave Charlotte’s that day, not only with her dream gown, but with her feeling like royalty herself by the end of it. We went through several gowns, but still couldn’t find the one. I finally found the gem hidden in our store in a style she never tried before, and it was love. She was beaming, she couldn’t stop looking at herself in the mirror, and she said that she had never felt more beautiful. It’s moments like that, that make me love my job.
What kind of advice would you give your brides about dress shopping?
Have a small group with you of people whose opinion you value. Look at pictures and get an idea of what you like before you come. And lastly, let yourself be open to finding “the one”. There is no set rule for how many dresses you must try-on or places you must see before you find it. Keep these three things in mind when you are deciding if the dress you love is the one: Do I feel beautiful in this?, Does the gown fit the aesthetic of my wedding?, Do I feel like a bride? If it is a yes for all three, then it may very well be “the one”.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working at Charlotte’s?
In my free time you can usually find me at a book store or at the nearest coffee shop. I live off of caffeine and the written word! I also spend a lot of time traveling and visiting my friends and family in Texas.
