Maritza Carranza and Ivan first met each other over 15 years ago at a family gathering. The couple, who are Catholic, take their faith seriously and so Ivan designed his proposal with that in mind.
“Ivan proposed to me at The Grotto because we are Catholic and he wanted to incorporate a religious component to our engagement.”
Maritza said “I do” wearing a custom, one-of-a-kind Martina Liana wedding gown. The process for finding her perfect dress wasn’t simple, but after a few appointments her dream dress was on the way.
“Shopping for my dress was amazing. I went to 4 other stores and I felt pressured by the consultants to purchase a gown in that moment. At Charlotte’s I told them my vision and they helped me, provided options and I left without purchasing a gown the first time. I returned the following weekend and purchased my gown.”
Putting together her custom design took some time, but it was all worth it!
“My gown was a Martina Liana custom gown that required attention to detail and Ryann was so helpful with that. I never felt pressured, she was very sweet and so professional!”
The Planning Process
Planning a wedding is a lot of work, and Maritza learned a lot along the way.
“The planning process was very stressful! I wish I could go back and not worry about every little thing because it made the process not as enjoyable. My mother did help me a lot so that made things better. I really suggest that all brides have someone to help coordinate everything that knows the vision just in case anything goes wrong.”
There are so many things to keep track of leading up to your big day. Placing that responsibility on someone else allows you to take a step back and ENJOY rather than stress through it all.
The Big Day
The pair were married on Sept. 7th 2017 in Abigail’s Garden at The Abernethy Center. Pops of color, and elegant tulle adorned the space giving their day a fairytale vibe.
“My favorite part of the wedding was the moment when we said our vows, and when I first walked down the aisle.”
Their day was full of family and most importantly fully of love, which photographer Kayley Hoddick captured beautifully.
“My best advice for future brides: Do NOT stress on the small details! Enjoy every moment of the day because it will go by so fast.”
