What About the Groom?

“Does the groom have to match the groomsmen?”

“Should the groom match the bride?”

Truth is, it is really up to you. I have worked at Charlotte’s Weddings for 2 years and I have seen all kinds of tux combinations.  Many tuxedo shops give you the option to mix and match patterns with different colors. All these options can overwhelm people, so the best thing to do is stick to one main idea.

For example: If your wedding colors are Neutrals like browns and ivory, chose one pattern for your ties and maybe put your groom into an ivory vest and tie and have the groomsmen wear the chocolate vests and ties. If there are dads and ring bearers put them in other shades of brown or maybe champagne to compliment the rest of the bridal party. This is a great way to set everyone apart.

Another option is to choose one color and do different patterns for the vest and tie. Doing different patterns can make the colors look slightly different but as long as it’s in the same color family it will look great.  This way the groom will still be wearing the same color as the groomsmen but maybe a pattern that might make his look a little lighter. The main thing to remember is to create a look that is put together.  You can build your tux at Jim’s Formalwear
