What Comes First the Chicken or the Egg?

In the bridal world the equivalent question is: What should a bride choose first, her dress or the flowers?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that most women already know what their favorite flower is and probably the colors they would like to have in their wedding some day.  Those questions get answered early on in a young girl’s life and may change multiple times throughout the years.

It is not easy to know exactly what style of wedding gown is going to look the best, since it isn’t an every day occurrence to go and try them on.  However, when the day comes to start the search, many brides will try on multiple dresses.  Unless the bride knows automatically which  dress is “hers” and it does happen often, I see the choices whittled down to two different gowns and the question follows, “Which dress will look better with my flowers?”

Most wedding dresses come in a variety of whites and cream/natural colors for a reason.  It will go with most any color of flowers you choose.  It really comes down to the overall style and feel of the wedding you are going for.  Are you going for the modern bride and choose poppy colors, sleek vases and contemporary place settings?  Or perhaps you would like a more vintage, romantic feel and so you choose a softer color with slightly different hues, wispy hair and flickering candlelight.

It is okay to change the color of the flowers to match the dress or style of the wedding.  There isn’t a right or wrong choice since it is your wedding for a reason and you get to decide.  Thank goodness flowers come in so many different hues that whatever color or style dress you decide on, there is a flower and color that will be exactly what you are looking for.

So the question, “What comes first the flowers or the dress?” is whatever you want!
