At Charlotte’s, we hear a lot of brides talk about having an outdoor wedding. A backyard is great and cost efficient, but not everyone has a backyard big enough for a large number of people. Oregon vineyards are perfect for any style or theme of wedding. There are numerous vineyards scattered throughout the state with varying prices and accommodations that will serve couples with different budgets.
The last vineyard wedding I attended was at Wine Country Farm in Dundee, Oregon. On August 13, 2011, my brother married one of my closest friends at one of the most beautiful locations I’ve seen in Oregon! Like most couples, they were on a tight budget but sought out this venue which provided lodging, decorations, seating, a great view, and most importantly, their very own wine! The magnificent atmosphere of the venue and setting seemed to really bring people together, enabling them to celebrate with the couple and forget the cares of everyday life.
The theme of the wedding was “Happily Ever After” and it was pleasant, enticing and not “over-the-top” at all. It was semi-formal with a fun atmosphere featuring the beautiful scenery of Willamette Valley wine country. There was enough room to separate the ceremony from the dining tables and dance floor, which were all outside. The dance floor was covered by a beautiful overhang decorated with elegant vines flowing through each beam. It truly was a perfect place for a friendly, easy-going, entertaining group of people to congregate, wind down and kick up their heels! The horse-drawn carriage was the cherry on top and made this casual wedding feel more enchanting and romantic.
The location was far enough away for family to feel as though they were on vacation, but able to take a short trip home when they needed. The wedding was set on top of a hill overlooking the entire vineyard, which enhanced the feeling of peace and tranquility. During the ceremony, in the background the hills looked as though they were rolling into an endless sea of clouds.
As a bridal consultant, I have learned that choosing the venue is one of the most important elements of planning a wedding. When shopping for the perfect wedding gown it’s helpful to have your venue already picked out so you can focus on fabrics, details and styles that will compliment the setting and overall feel of the venue.
If you and your fiance are looking for the perfect venue and like the idea of an outdoor setting, consider a winery! We’ve got so many to choose from in the Portland area and as venues go, they’re very accommodating!
