4 Honeymoons You Won’t Need a Passport to Travel To!

In my mind honeymoons are essential. It is the cake topper to the most important time of your life. Not only do you get a relaxing holiday, you can play the “honeymoon” card and get fun things such as free dessert! What’s not to love about that!?

However, if you are anything like me, you are budget conscious and would prefer not to sign over your first born child for a vacation. The good news is… you don’t have to! There are plenty of fantastic vacation spots in our very own land of the free!  This means less travel costs and less stress. Here are just a few of my favorites:

Sarasota1) Sarasota, Florida  Home to the Siesta Key Beach, Sarasota was voted #1 Beach in the nation by Dr. Beach! It’s pure white sand and sparkling turquoise water makes this beach unforgettable.  The sand – consisting of 99% pure quartz – is finer than sugar and many claim it’s the finest and whitest in world! You can drive a short distance south to Turtle Beach, where the locals go to enjoy one of Florida’s most pristine and secluded beaches. Don’t forget to stop by Siesta Key Village, a quaint little village with dozens of shops, perfect for tourist shopping. :) You can catch a ride there with Siesta Key Free Ride, an all-electric taxi! This honeymoon is perfect for beach-loving couples who are just looking to relax and soak up some sun!

2) Park City, Utah  Plainly put, Park City is a mecca for outdoor recreation sports. Park CityNestled in the majestic Wasatch Mountains, Park City offers a variety of great activities ranging from mountain biking to skiing, horseback riding to alpine Slides and much more; there is never a dull moment in Park City, Utah! It is said to have “the greatest snow on Earth.” Not only does Park City offer outdoor thrills, its historic downtown has a vibrant night life and great shopping. If you happen to be there in January, don’t forget to make a stop at the Sundance Film Festival. This honeymoon is for the couple who loves a good outdoor adventure, and who might be traveling in the winter.

puerto rico3)Puerto Rico  Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory so a passport is not required! Vieques, Puerto Rico is accessible only by small plane or ferry from the Main Island and offers endless adventures. It is home to the world’s greatest Bioluminescent Bay, a natural phenomenon where microscopic organisms in the water produce light when touched. The Navy controlled Vieques for more than 50 years, leaving it one of the most pristine and untouched islands in the Caribbean. Vieques is a great place to experience the Caribbean in its purest form. Don’t forget that renting transportation on this small island (21 miles long and 5 miles wide) is a must. The most fun and cost effective way to experience this paradise is by scooter! This honeymoon is for the “off-the-beaten-path” travelers who are up for any adventure!

charleston4) Charleston, South Carolina  Charleston, South Carolina was named the most romantic city in the U.S. by Yahoo News. Life slows down in the south, especially in a city as rich with history as Charleston. They’ve been frozen in time as a colonial city with well preserved, antebellum structures. Charleston was also named the most polite city in the nation because of the prominent southern charm. Watching for dolphins from Waterfront Park and touring Fort Sumter is a must! For those seeking more of a thrill, Charleston offers many “haunted tours” at night. This honeymoon is for romantic history buffs who are looking to be charmed by the South. :)

There are so many cool places right here at home to visit while on your honeymoon, and a lot of them won’t break the bank!  Think about what you and your new husband like to do for fun, and think about some places that you’ve never been to but have always wanted to see.  This will be your first vacation together, so choose somewhere fun where you can make some great first memories as a married couple!

Happy Travelling!
