What is your favorite part about helping brides and working for Charlotte’s Weddings? How long have you worked here?

My tenure at Charlotte’s began in the fall of 2014. Although my relationship with Charlotte’s extends far beyond my presence at the store currently.  I have designed veils and altered dresses for multitudes of brides over many years.  My favorite part of helping a bride is to see her face see the dress exactly how she had envisioned. The excitement and the joy exuded from them makes it all worth while. I don’t get to meet the fathers very often but when I do it’s very special. Usually the dads start crying and that’s when it really gets me. Kleenex becomes our best friend!

Do you have a favorite moment/story from working at Charlotte’s?

One of my most recent brides became a favorite moment. A mature female couple came in to look for dresses for their wedding.  I could see that they were a bit skittish and unsure what to do. I was excited because they BOTH wanted to wear dresses! After trying on a few gowns, one of the ladies decided on a jacket and knee length dress. The other with blind faith ordered her dress sight unseen.  I promised that I would do what ever I could to make sure their dresses were altered to perfection and that we would have them done before the wedding.  And Š we did. It all worked perfectly.  They were happy and I started to cry.  The cutest part was that one of the girls did not want to see the other in her dress. She wanted the big reveal on the wedding day! To be able to make a bride no matter what the situation is, feel as beautiful as every woman can be is truly rewarding.

What kind of advice would you give your brides about dress shopping?

1. Do research. Magazines and websites. Tear out pages or print out images that you like AND ones that you vehemently dislike. And separate into two piles.  You will take these to your bridal consultant and show them.  It allows them to see where your tastes lie. However, allow the consultant to bring you a dress or two that might be different from what you were thinking.
2. Make appointments to visit two places a day.
3. Eat a very good breakfast. Schedule a lunch in between your appointments and drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
4. Don’t drag out your shopping experience. When you have THE dress onŠ you will know. And buy it! Time is your biggest foe when planning a wedding.  Delaying your dress greatly impacts your planning timeline and possibly your pocketbook.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working at Charlotte’s?

I love to spend time with my family and close friends. I take advantage of the slower time of the bridal season to rekindle relationships. Eating is a another hobby. I have started to cook more at home and it’s fun to be able to recreate a favorite dish from a local restaurant. I also love to dance hula whenever I can. The music and the movements transport me to a place that makes me happy.
