About Charlotte’s Weddings

Charlotte’s History

Charlotte’s has been around for over 20 years, started by Charlotte Shumaker out of her home with just one designer.

She moved into our current location in 1995 where she turned it into a full service bridal boutique offering not only wedding gowns, but also bridesmaid dresses, mom’s dresses, flower girl dresses and accessories.

In June of 2007, Charlotte decided to retire and sell the store to one of her employees.

The store has been reinvented with a newly renovated and expanded boutique with 9 bridal suites, 8 smaller rooms for bridesmaids, moms and prom. It also has exclusive designers found nowhere else in the Northwest. It still remains a full service boutique known for its great customer service and knowledgeable staff. The store is continuing to evolve and create a fun and relaxing experience for brides and their wedding party.

About the Owner, Krysta York

A lifelong Oregonian, Krysta earned a degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing and Advertising from Portland State University. After an early stint in the corporate business world, Krysta soon realized she wanted a career that better suited her passions. Her attention to detail and knack for event planning led her to pursue a career in the bridal industry.

In December of 2005 she started working as a bridal consultant for Charlotte’s and quickly found she loved her job. “Helping brides find “the” dress for the one special day that they marry the man of their dreams is such an honor.” She loves fashion, accessories, and above all else, is a hopeless romantic who believes in the “happily ever after”.

In June of 2007, she pursued her passion even further by purchasing Charlotte’s and making it her own. Krysta has spent years working to improve the level of service Charlotte’s provides and enhance the look and feel of the store. Her goal is to make Charlotte’s the best bridal store in Oregon and perhaps even the Pacific Northwest.

In March of 2012 she had her own “happily ever after” and married the man of her dreams and added becoming a mom to her resume in the same year, welcoming Liam Martin York. They are the most important people in her life.  In her spare time, Krysta loves watching movies with her husband, playing with her son, working out, enjoying dinner with friends, wine tasting, traveling, reading, playing on the water, and most importantly spending time with her family.
